Ingredients

  • 1 bottle 750 ml Spanish dry red wine (such as Tempranillo or Garnacha)
  • 1/2 cup Spanish Brandy
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 large orange sliced into thin wheels
  • 1 crisp green apple cored and chopped into small cubes
  • 1 lemon sliced into wheels
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar or brown sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 cinnamon stick optional

Method

  1. Prep the Fruit: Place the chopped apples, orange wheels, and lemon wheels into the bottom of a large glass pitcher.
  2. Macerate: Sprinkle the sugar over the fruit. Use a long wooden spoon to gently muddle the fruit for about 30 seconds to release the natural oils and juices.
  3. Combine Liquids: Pour in the brandy, fresh orange juice, and the entire bottle of red wine. Drop in the cinnamon stick if using.
  4. Stir & Chill: Stir the mixture thoroughly until the sugar completely dissolves. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  5. Serve: Give it a good stir, pour over glasses filled generously with ice, and spoon some of the wine-soaked fruit into each glass.
